How to fit an Ipod input or aux jack to 110 Defender 2008

Hi, Has anyone fitted an Ipod connector to a 2008 Defender. I wanted to know if the standard Defender stereo has a spare audio input or RCA input on the back of it before having the dash ripped off? If anyone could shed any light I would be very grateful !!

Don't know for sure if theres already an output but you can buy an adapter from Halfrauds and the like that plugs into your ariel. works like this:
Pull radio out disconnect ariel lead.
Fit connector to radio via ariel connector
Refit ariel lead to new connector on adapter
fit the ipod end of the connector anywhere you can get to it
take note of the frequency it's set to (Important)
Put it all back together
Connect your ipod and select your music
turn your stereo head unit to radio mode and tune to noted frequency.
you should hear what your ipods saying....
if you get interferance you might also be picking up a radio station so you'll need to change the frequency of your adapter to some thing no local station uses.

I think the Kits are known as FM modulators.
Now you get what you pay for with these kits so dont be stingy or the quality will suffer.
Failing that just change the stereo head unit for one with built in ipod conection can get em for around £100

Wow, thanks for the quick response ! That sounds like a good option. Have you done it yourself? Does it work ok, or do you have to keep changing frequency's to stop interference? I would really like to wire it straight to the stereo so as not to have to rely on a transmitter. I guess i will have to fit a new head unit, or just remove the dash and find out if there is any free inputs on the back of the factory stereo. cheers

FM transmitters can be problematic but they are a cheap and easy solution

Dont get an FM transmitter the sound quality is appalling get the modulator that plugs in line there fine. My mother in laws CD changer works through one, never had to re tune it due to interference either locally or when on holiday all over the south coast.

Ive been wanting to do this to the headunit in my 90 for some time and remembered some tutorials about hardwiring an aux input into it, as luck would have it ive managed to find it. It doesnt look that hard tbh if your into that sort of thing, it also has a few trouble shooting bits and bobs and some useful links too. Im definatley gonna give it a go when i get some free time
