I've searched four different forums for information on this and keep coming up with 'How to change a 200tdi cambelt on a Defender which is the same but different.
FFS I know it's different that's why I'm looking for how to do a Disco one.
I'm sure I read it all the other day on some forum or other but can't for tha life of me find it.

I'd rather get it right than have a go and have the belt snap a few thousand miles down the line, yer right it's easy but anythings easy when you know how. I think that a 16v Clio is easy because I've done three of them, once you know the tricks it's no problem and you can tackle it with confidence.
I've got a 300tdi to do shortly and I've never done one of those either:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
here we go again:)

The Haynes manual describes a perfectly adequate procedure for changing the belt on this engine. If you don't want to buy one pm me and I'll copy the relevant pages from mine.

You need a drill bit to time up the injection pump, either 9 or 9.5mm. To time up the crank, you can make a timing pin with a wading plug and 5mm drill.

Its quite a mauling sort of job, crank pulley can be hard to get off, but biggest headache can be dissimilar metals corrosion between the long cover securing bolts and cover itself.

Belt tension is set using a torque wrench.

yeah i think he may have done it by now!

Yup, done it all right thanks to you lot
Had to drill and retap two bolt holes after bolts snapped off but all in all easy when you know how.
Oh, and I left the fan off and she warms up better:)

This is well worth a watch if you are doing a 200 Disco cambelt
