I use mine every day mainly short journey's but weekend long journey's the wife uses hers every week day for work .the wife's is a 1998 1800 xie it had the head gasket done a few years ago and the wife has owned it about 12 years I had a td4 gs auto for 9 years and now have a td4 auto Hse which I have had for 18 months , I do believe that regular use is better for a car than one standing for days without going anywhere . I am also a believer in regular servicing
 
Use mine about everyday! Works out to about 200 miles a week! Then do quite a few 4-500 mile journeys during the year! And some times on holiday I can to 1000 miles in a week!

Not do I, but all my jobs are generally around South London, and frequently an hour (4 miles!!!!) away. Sometimes I manage to go further afield.

So boring only driving at less than 30mph most of the time.

I have a short trip planned for Saturday, just popping over to Brugge for the day.

Yeah, I used to hate that London ****e. It's the same here though, anywhere near rush hour or anytime in the summer holidays when the grockles and their screaming brats invade....

And don't even start me on when the schools kick out and the overweight darlings struggle to walk to the waiting overweight mum's car to drive them half a mile home.. :doh: :doh: When I were a lad we'd get up three hours before we went to bed, have a bag of gravel for breakfast and walk 10 miles to school through blizzards IF we were lucky!!!

In the 3 months Sept to November, the bearings in my IRD travelled 12,000 miles, however, the car travelled 0 :(

Normally its our daily drive doing short hops around town, weekends it may get a good run out and on hols it may do a couple of thou Kms.

Today it did its first long run after the transmission rebuild. A 500+ Km round trip fishing to the Tekapo Canal & Lake Pukaki. Beautiful 30 degree day, fun fishing and the car performed fantastic :)

The journey was, at the time, uneventful until we got home and heard todays news. On our way out was passed a house being relocated. It was sitting on the back of a low-loader waiting for an escort over the Rakaia River bridge. Turns out an hour or so later a woman drove her car into it in Ashburton and killed herself.

Then on our way home we once again passed over the Rakaia bridge and a few minutes later a load of police cars pilled down the other way, lights flashing and turns out a car and truck had a head-on on the bridge - would literally have been a minute or 2 after we went over it. Don't know the outcome of that, but it ain't looking good.

As I say though, our day was great....

Once or twice a week, usually no more than 5 miles. Last time I refuelled was 3rd October.
Bit of a pain at the moment as having to go Christmas shopping to Truro and Hayle as She who must be obeyed has issued instructions :(

I'll be there in January :D
 
I do about 40 miles a day going to work and then longer journeys at the weekend, Ive done about 8,000 miles in the 6 months Ive owned this one.
It's great for towing our caravan on our jollies and even doubles as a hutch for our rabbit!!!

Hey cool :) Bit busy here in Jan and the cost of travel and accommodation goes up (its our school summer holidays), but you should get decent weather and will definitely have a great time !

If you're into fishing (or even if you're not yet!), PM me - January is Salmon run season in the South Island, I'll take you down the river and show you how not to catch them :)

Or just offer some tips on where you can't fail to catch!

Loads of respect for trying to make something better than the VCU. If it works, I shall nominate you for the forum member of the year award.

But sorry, taking the family bunnies on holiday and turning the boot of the car into a makeshift creche for them, in my eyes, is just plain sad!
