Yer the ally corrosion all along the lower body parts covered up with chequer plate is always a good
way to get top sovs for it.

To be fair apart from the rear 1/4s the rest is just the the sills.
 
I'm not convinced at all by those ID ads.

Why would anyone end up without an ID anyway? Stolen vehicles, sure, but anyone doing a build will start with somthing, as that would be the cheapest way to get a load of body parts.

So I'm unsure if there's demand for all these IDs, and I can't think for anything like the £1.5k etc that they get advertised for.

I'm not saying youre wrong, as I don't know - but I do know there's a world of difference between somthing being advertised for 1.5k and someone buying it for £1.5k.
They are for exactly that as far as I am concerned, you buy one to ring a stolen vehicle. The seller gets double money by breaking the vehicle and selling on the parts and as well as selling on a rotten chassis pate and a v5. These days you can also build most of a vehicle without a donor, I agree you would usually start with something, but there are plenty of axles, gearboxs, body panels etc. for sale so you build up onto a new chassis from scratch if you were so inclined but you would end up with a q plate.
 
I wouldn't take this on unless you've got a big garage, lots of tools, time, knowledge and money. There are plenty of examples out there in far better nick which make a better starting point for a project.

I've bought very clean looking Land Rovers with current MOTs that still needed a four figure sum to get the next MOT. So this is going to require a full recommission, brakes clutch hydraulics and all sorts of issues will rear their heads. Fine if you've got the wherewithal to sort it, but it's a certainty that it will be much more work than you think.

I've just rebuilt an 88" which was basically OK but had a lot of rubbish work done, and I didn't look at it hard enough as superficially it looked great.It is fantastic now, but it took a lot of effort to get there. And people I engaged to do the odd jobs I couldn't do were mainly unprofessional muppets and cost me unnecessary time and money. Still took me 2 years to sort it to my satisfaction, and it started out in a vastly better state than this.

So my message is, unless you can get this really cheaply (£500), I'd suggest you are much better off getting something clean and tidy with a current MOT. It's not a particularly desirable body style and there are lots of them out there.

If you buy something better, rest assured there will still be plenty of jobs to do on it, as that's what happens when you own a Land Rover! But at least you will be doing jobs in between driving it!
 
The truck I bought with a 200tdi the head gasket had not been done.
Water intrusion in one cylinder, head was cracked.
There are so many things you cannot see or overlook that are very expensive.
Even if you got the dang thing free!
