Not being model specific just curious.
Totted up 30 months of D3 ownership last night, 3200 GBP or roughly 105 quid per month.
Thats all parts, mots, oil/filters etc etc, but no insurance or depreciation or fuel obviously!
It includes 900 pounds worth of tyres, cambelts discs/pads etc.

I keep a spreadsheet of all costs incurred by my 2002 D2 auto.
In 44 months of ownership I have spent £7915., but this includes insurance, roadtax and all bills inclusive of vat.
Fuel kept separately . Average of £179.89 per month.
Had to replace autobox was biggest cost.
As someone else said, these are at least 14 year old cars and all parts replaced should do another 14 years.
Still intend to keep it running. Love driving the D2.

Got our Disco 2 July last year, quick mental top up comes to about £800 that's -
EGR delete
Injector harness
MAF sensor
Battery
Fuel pump
Shocks all round
Drag link
Track rod complete assembly
Tracking
Front drop links
Front ARB bushes
Wind deflectors :oops:
Decat front pipe/straight thru and back box
1 MOT with 1 advisory (slight play track rod end)
All work carried out by me saving a considerable amount!
Oh and c£500 on tyres

I've spent around £7000 in 10 years only in UK online stores for various items but this includes the following NEW genuine or OEM (no aftermarket)items: AMC head, 5 injectors, front propshaft, turbocharger, both fuseboxes, engine main harness, all drive shafts, front diff, timken wheel hubs, ACE actuators, PAS box and pump, brake master cylinder and servo unit, radiator, performance intercooler... and many kind of joints, bushes, hoses, etc , ... my obsession was to renew my D2 to bring it as close to new status as possible in the powertrain, steering, braking and suspension area

Having seen this post it has just made me work it out! Since October 2016 when I purchased the car, excluding fuel, tax, insurance it totals £640.Most expensive items being the oxygen sensors which failed as soon as i bought it! If I added fuel on it would work out much, much more being a V8.....
 
I've spent tooooo much!

I've had it about six weeks and I'm upto around £600 just in repairs.

Passed it's mot today though with no advisories so I'm well chuffed.

Ha ha neilly that's true!

I couldn't believe it when it wouldn't open when I picked my daughter up!
I must of jinxed it when i told the mot tester I was glad it had a clean bill of health.

Gonna keep my trap shut at next year's test

I can claim to be way sadder than that as I have a book thats over 30 yrs old with every car weve ever owned and every penny spent on them.
Im pretty sure the wife has had more cars than me, colour being very important!
I now use sod all fuel as weekly mileage down from 200 to 60 ish
 
I reckon i spend about £500 a year on our 300tdi. Its probably depreciated about £300 since we purchase it 4 years back, but that's mainly as the trim does not like all the stuff we haul about in it.

Shiny cars cost a lot. Workhorses that you, at least attempt, to fix yourself are somewhat cheaper (better value?)
 
My first Disocvery (300tdi) cost me £1400 to buy, spent that again fixing, welding, replacing for better, had alot of fun with that old thing,

Still saddens me that i had to sell her off for scrap for a pitiful £400 (tin worm ate the bulkhead/firewall)
 
Tuppence ha'penny so far, compared to many here at least. Had this one 14 months and only had to replace the top hose. It won't last, in the torrential rain we had dahn saaf last night the front sunroof was dripping (the one the dealer 'fixed') so that's on the horizon at least!
 
So far over a year, she's cost me:

£75 for a new air compressor for the SLS
£35 for a second hand tow bar, plus another £10 for bolts to go with it
Approx £50 for additional lights, wiring, switches, etc
£25 for a Shuttle Valve to fix the 3As

a few pints of cider for diagnostics

Plus of course insurance, MOT cost and road tax and routine servicing costs (there;s a service, MOT and insurance renewal coming up soon - ouch!)

However, I suspect if I was to put it up for sale today I could easily get back more than I paid to buy it in the first place
 
I think those of you guessing on cost may be surprised if you added it all up, people forget the wiper blades the odd part here and there.

Ah yes... i do need to order a new set of wiper blades! Although those aren't too bad as I tend to dismantle them and rebuild with new rubbers rather than buying the whole unit
 
Don't know is the honest answer.

It's a tool, our main transport and has to be on the button to go anywhere at any time.

No show stoppers, but it's on its second R380, pads and discs, new exhaust when we bought it and put a short motor in (and took out a 4.6 ) Loads of bits and pieces, rebuilt front props, plural (we have three D2 V8's in the family) and we carry a fair stock of new and used spares.

It hasn't really depreciated much, and it will go to Holland at the beginning of June with the big trailer with our Ruston & Hornsby diesel in the back.

We've covered 92k since July 2009. Car has done 182k.

Had our 1998 300Tdi for 6 years, spent $350 for a clutch kit, when I bought it the clutch was fubared, (taken into account in purchase price), $900 for 5 new tyres, $380 for a new windscreen, $80 waterpump, $40 timing belt, $50 rear brake pads, $100, 2 x sets wheel bearings and seals, that comes to about $1900, not taking into account accessories, fuel and registration for the six years.
Come to think of it, way too much on an old clunker, plus all the hours of work, buggerit! Next time I'll buy a new one, but prolly not a Landy.
Have found in the past a good new vehicle will give 10+ years without any major maintenence issues, 10 years, I'll be too old to drive by then.
Been running two and three vehicles at one time, next time, now that both me and she are retired, one vehicle to do all we need to do, and not so much of my oh so valuable time.
