2001 v6 with air con, traction, hdc etc. :D

I loves my Freelander I does. Inherited it when me dad snuffed it. Good swop I say. My Freelander is me second vehicle I’ve owned, but I’ve driven over 50 different models of hire car for work. So I knows what I like and I doesn’t. :D

My Freelander is kind of cute in the looks department. A stylish blend of functionality without the bling. I prefer standard vehicles rather than those who tend to include every mod. Like tratters with a winch which never go orf road. My Freelander is powerful, refined, easy to drive, comfortable and makes me happy when I drive it. It goes orf road and I also happily drive through water knowing me doors wont fall orf. It’s had its fare share of faults but hopefully those little problems are solved and we’ll have many more happy motoring miles together. :D

Every journey is a pleasure. Passengers like my Freelander too. Often positively commenting on it. The commanding driving position with good feedback from the wheels feels just right. I can go up slopes at 45 degrees and across rough terrain where many wouldn’t expect a Freelander to go. We’ve been round many orf road courses together and people always watch and wave. Perhaps a bit surprised to see us but equally happily to see a Freelander being used for what it was built for. :D

Many knock Freelanders as being crap. They is just jealous of Freelanders. Freelandering in the way forward. Yes there are a few problems with em like hgf, but ALL other Land Rover products suffer faults too. Found that out on me round the world tour of Landyzone earlier this year.

I loves my Freelander I does. There’s nowt wrong with Freelanders un yer can’t tell me any different. :D

2005 TD4 that we have had over 3 years now and only issue was failed fuel pump. Good to drive and comfortable also ideal last winter - was able to get home in bad snow when cars couldn't get through

1998 1.8s bought this last winter when the snow didn't go away and the wife wanted the TD4 back, kept me going all through the winter without any problems. I have done a few things on it over the summer so hopefully it will be reliable again this winter - new cambelt, new front crank oil seal, thermostat seals, service and tidy up. Its ready to go back on the road on Tuesday.

this is what i mean. we all know the horror stories but still love em. was over my friends the other day and shes got a nice focus estate and nearly begged me to do a swap. i know i will prob have probs down the line and the thing drinks as much fuel as my beemer did but i still really like getting in her and driving her. just got to save up now so i can get her looking better. want a nice bull bar and some spots plus all the light covers and maybe some other toys if and when i can afford them. lol.

i prefer the mk1..have you noticed how scruffy the facelifted version gets? the interiors arnt as long lasting as the early versions. i also see a lt of r reg freeloaders going round looking in much better shape than the later reg mk1's.

and what else can you get thats fairly modern, 4x4 and not a pajero for freelander money? they dont rust like discos and last if looked after properly. (and thats the problem..they rarley do.)
most sub 2000 cars get run into the ground and sold on when big bills looming.

I agree on the interior of the face lifted version ours was 3 years old when we bought it and the drivers seat was showing signs of wear (now replaced with a leather interior) where as the seats in my 1998 car still look as good as new.

More than happy with my facelift version, no signs of wear on seats (1/2 leather) and prefer the look to the earlier versions, just personal taste I suppose and wouldn't life be boring if we all thought the same :)

I think the half leather is more durable, ours was a black cloth and was badly creased and starting to fade!
