How many yellow G4s are left?

Take some photos! You need to save this car! lol

Looks good but it has no MOT (yet) therefore needs attention. If the lacquer does go off I might have to pass there are no good sprayers in West Yorkshire and the crap ones are expensive as well and hell.

Fingers crossed then! But if only the lacquer, rub down and re-apply the clear coat yourself? Shouldn't be too difficult even with a rattle can if you're careful?

Nope not going to do that. Rub it down is problematic, clear coat as well as dirt will settle and so on. Not for me this job, on my black fl if I spot a big scratch I go do scrap and find that element on colour (java black) and seems easier.
If the engine is failed I would still consider. If paint is, no, as repairing this engine seems easier.

Fixing an engine is more rewarding - my attempts at paint have generally ended in abject failure...

Went on and saw the car. If any of you guys want to have it, couple of notes.
  • lacquer does peel off this colour, but is not bad at all only a few small points
  • engine is sound, head gasket changed at 24k miles and no signs of issues, idles well etc.
  • leaking oil on I suspect the usual crankshaft seal, not expensive but timewise I don't know as ird gearbox and flywheel needs removal for this (I doubt there is any k series fl without this around tbh)
  • horn improvised with a button somewhere on the steering wheel column
  • bonnet won't open easily, the latch seem kaputt
  • bit of rust underneath, it was not never undercoated
  • needs tlc
The most important bit is the price which is very good, for somebody who has the time, tools, place and desire. Does look very nice tbh, with no issues that any other freelander from that era might have.
For me unfortunately is just bad timing I have to move end of month and don't have the time to sort all this and I cannot leave it as it is because I have issues.

Sounds like a viable project - especially so for such a rare G4.sfs

How do you know if its a G4, is it simply because its yellow? I have a yellow 2003 1.8 3 door with g4 stickers that I brought because I wanted the 17" wheels for my td4. Need to sell it now as cylinder 2 has low pressure so running rough.

Landrover only made 200 yellow and 200 orange o3 freelander s to celebrate the g4 challenge
