How many miles???

My disco 200 in a 110, strugles to do 80 down hill with the wind behind.

I would like to point out, that on the motorway with my speedo reading 70mph, my dads td5 speedo reads 90mph, and the GPS (which we shall go by) reads 78mph.

I think speedo error may be what causes alot of our inconsistant max speed agreements on here.

Is that all a Defender tank takes?

My Disco takes nearly 100 litres, well over 20 gallons as far as I can tell.

It hurts filling it from empty, but I can (I do) manage 650 miles or more before the light comes on if I filled it to the brim.

My Disco doesn't go very far with the fuel light on. Ran out last time. Lucky me had a full two gallon can in the back.

Bled the system with the throttle pedal and set off to the nearest garage.

Thought a disco tank was 85ltr or 18.7Gall in old money.

my old 87 90 td was around the 200/230 on around the 45/47 ltrs
then put the 200tdi disco engine in (injecter pump was wound right up ) would around the same
me new td5 90 does around 290/300 on a 50ltr top-up (60ltr tank apparantly)

If you fill it right up you'll get 2 or 3 extra liters in due to the filler hose and neck....dont matter which landy you got..

And if you fill up in the morning when the weather is cold you'll also get a bit extra as the fuel in its cold state is more dense..

I need to get a life.

Thort the 90 had a 40 litre tank, i've never managed to get more than 43 in it and it was gasping then!

I used to get dead on 200 in the TD but now get just about 300 in the TDI and it is always about 42 litres i put in.

According to me Landrover owners handbook for the 90/110 fuel tank capacities are:

Rear 110 Models................. 79.50ltr 17.5Gal
Side 110 except CSW.......... 68.20ltr 15.0Gal
Side 110 CSW only............. 45.50ltr 10.0Gal
Side 90 Models.................. 54.58ltr 12.0Gal

NB this is for pre defender 90's & 110's

Well I have a 1984 '90' or pre-defender and i'd get very wet feet if i tried to put more than 42 ltrs in...i have run dry ONCE, and i filled it up and the side tank is a 40 ltr with 2 ltrs in the feeder tube...

However as with all landys i have no idea of the history before i owned it so it may have had a replacement tank at some point...why they'd put a smaller one on though would be a mystery...

Right as I have me old fuel tank off me 1987 90TD, in the back garden I have just blocked the filler neck and breather with some flashband and using a couple of builders buckets filled to the 12 litre mark on each fill. I have just managed to get 58ltrs of water into the tank before it was completely full. So I reckon the 54.5 ltrs in the owners handbook is pretty accurate.

Welcome brother....

i do about 400miles in my 300tdi 110 hardtop before i fill up. not sure if my speedo is right tho, are 235/85/16 tyres the standard size for a 95 n reg 110 hard top? the wheels are 5.5j 16. surely if the tyres and different from the original the mileage would be out?

Matt

This weekend just done 450 mile round trip with my 2.5TD fitted with roof rack and lots of metal underneath and got 26.7 mpg which is 320 miles for a tankful.
