cruised 25 miles at this speed for 3/4 of the journey, it was fine trundling along
About right speed.

used a quarter of a tank of diesel though! all though my gauge is different everytime i look at it, i think my sender is dodgy

Hi,
I also have an ex military N/A 90 (Naturally asthmatic) which can on the level achieve 70mph but its not quite happy about this and shows this at hills quickly loosing 20mph, downshifting just makes it go slower n slower. Mine has a 1.410 lt230 with 235/80R16 (virtually the same rolling ratio as 7.50) I think that the engine would struggle with a disco transfer box so am considering changing the engine, 300tdi or 3.9 v8 either way it will have an auto box and 1.2 transfer box..

Hello. I have an ex-military 90 with the 2.5 n/a engine. I recently had the head skimmed and now it runs a lot better. They also fixed a con rod problem that I had.
I can now get 70mph on a flat part of the motorway quiet easily, however I do not like to try quicker as it does rattle and the likes. I have also found that when going up hill, it does not slow to 45/50mph as it used to. In fact, I was pulling a laden sankey 3/4 tonne trailer, with a laden landy and it was staying at 60mph on an uphill segment of the motorway. I was astounded. I hope that this has helped.

I had the hand brake lock on without knowing(it was doing 40 -45 mph) which was cured. Much "better" speed of 50 mph but thats my lot. When my granddad had it, my series used to do 70+ with an overdrive and big tyres fitted along with the 2.5. We've rebuilt it since though so hopefully should be a bit better
I've talked quite a few through the tuning/economy process, both on here and on the phone ... and had a couple turn up here to have it done for them.
One of them couldn't get more than 50mph at 18mpg, and a couple of hours later rang me to say that his 90 cruised at 80 on the clock and after filling up 3 times over a fortnight, found that he was averaging around the 30mpg mark!
It can be done!
I only do the 2.5 N/A, as I don't do electrickery stuff!

yep OSD was well helpful on the phone, guided me through it and its well worth doing.
