Disco 2 How does a winch bumper attach

Hi all,trying to work out what part of the chassis and how a winch bumper attaches, got an idea about towing eyes attached to a bullbar or rather through a bull bar, but don't know what part of the front of the d2 is strong enough to take it.

I don't know about winch bumpers for the D2, but this bloke has done a very nice job of mounting a discrete T-Max winch on his Disco:-

From what I've been able to see, the strongest mounting points on the front of the D2 are at the ends of the main chassis members. That's where it appears that all winches and winch kits are mounted.

Bullbars often attach differently to winch or HD bumpers ...

Bumpers usually attach directly to the ends of the chassis, Bullbars (Mostly just for show) Uusually attach via plates that then attach to the bumper mounting points.

You can get decent Bullbars that attach directly to the chassis, but as most aren't used as intended and fit around the standard bumper they're mostly a bit flimsy really ...

One little question?

What exactly are you trying to do? as it sounds like you are going to be fitting tow / recovery points to a bull bar rather than the bumper / chassis.

If that is the case I would be concerned about the force being applied and the torque / bending moment on the attachment points if mounted far away from the bumper / bull bar chassis attachment points.

That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid, so am trying to work out how to attach the bull bar to the chassis if it's possible as I've seen rings on the front of aftermarket winch bumpers, and the bullbar is through the bumper bolted so was wondering how these are mounted, or are the tow rings purely cosmetic and just somewhere to sling yer hook?

Not sure on the D2 tbh. never thought about putting one on mine.

But for a reference, my 90 has a winch bumper on it with recovery points, but the bumper is held in place by the 2 M10 bolts on each chassis rail where the bumper normally clamps on PLUS a further M10 bolt through the chassis rail further down, so 6 x M10 bolts in total. recovery points ( tow eyes) are directly in front of the chassis rails.
