How do you speed up warmup time 300tdi?

heres a thought..
cars and stuff have 'toe-in' to help keep them going in a straight line. perhaps you could design a shoe, or boot that detect how much of the black stuff you have comsumed. it would then point the toe end of your footwear inwards towards eachother. thereby minicking the effect of 'toe-in' and allowing you to walk home without staggering

course if you had landrover shoes on you'd be all over the place no matter even without the guiness comsumption
combined with a embedded tomtom and an "i've had too much drink" detector that turns on yer tomtom - stagger home mode i think its called
lets patent that idea, and before ya say "you wont get a patent fer it" read this

I do that too, in my TD5 Disco, but the User Manual page 113 says not to!

DO NOTwarm-up the engine by allowing it to idle at a slow speed."
That would worry you huh?
But it gives the game away in the next sentence which starts
In the interests of fuel economy, it is advisable to drive the vehicle straight away
I reckon the same as Slob here.
In the interests of raod safety and comfort, on a frosty morning get the bugger running, put the heater fans on full blast with the temp knobs full up, and go for a second cup of coffee while the car is made safe to drive (like you can see out the windows) and confortable.
Warming up gently is probably better for the engine than start-up and drive away, especially in a diesel.
That's what I think anyway, but what do I know?

Ok guys & girls, bought myself a Webasto heater! From what I understand these are fitted to FreeLander Diesel's and as these units have there own ECU and Water Pump etc they sound the best option as they run on Diesel ! A remote keyfob is available..get up blip the key fob, shower get dressed etc and by the time I get in my Disco I can switch straight to veg and have a nice warm car.. Timers are an option also.

Living here in the land of Alps chocolate and cheese, I would recomned a Webasto Thermotop C. This is a pre-heater that warms the coolant in the engine, by turning on a small burner that draws deisel from your tank. After a specified time, it will fire up the internal fans. A real bonus. It removes the diesel rattle at start up and extends the life of yer motta.
