Has anyone else had a problem where the passenger seat rail and the battery box gets really hot? I never noticed it ever before yesterday. I did have a new rear box fitted but I don't ever remeber it having a heat shield fitted. My wife noticed her seat was very hot and the seat rail was extremely hot to the touch. There was a smell of burning too. I hadn't been on the road for more than 45 minutes. I stopped and felt underneath but the exhaust box wasn't that hot it just seems that the brackets around that area were. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

What model do you have? Could be a split on top of the pipe directing hot gas up at the seat/batt box area.
Hi Its a 1998 Defender 90. I'll check that out thanks.

You were right! I put my hand over the top of the box and there's a hole!! Why didn't I think of that? Many thanks I'll get a new one now.
