Next new issue, wether I try to set the central locking off the key or use the key to lock it,the horn just toots and nothing locks.Opened and shut all the doors a few times to check for an open circuit but its not helped, any ideas what to check next ?

if im honest mate,i think this is going to go up for spares or repair. Its been off the road last 2 years due to me loosing my license. Its developed the following in that time, leaking sunroofs, now sealed up and headlining changed.Leaking ace pipe so i was going to revert back to std antiroll bar set up.I expected to have to reniew calipers, discs and pads anyway but in the last couple of weeks it smokes heavily(blue smoke only under load) now this so im close to giving up.Its only got 66k on the clock and was a company vehicle from a guy i knew had it from new before me.The unreliability of these vehicles has probably decided this ones future.

it's a bit excessive to call unreliable a car which stood 2 years unstarted, especially if it was out in the rain with leaking sunroofs, no matter who made it, water or moisture made it's job in the IDM or BCU and the seals in the head are all hardened that's why the blue smoke IMO

It was started and idled to temp on a weekly basis, engine wise.I expected to have to put up to 1k into it but i didnt expect management/electronics issues to be honest.Yip sunroofs should never have been an option lol.Im not getting at your comments and advice mate, just think it will be chase and fix and chase and fix from now on.I love even just sitting in the big thing but even with your advice,im relying on proffesional garage services for this one, which can be costly.Cheers for your advice.

I had this problem the other week, wouldnt lock, horn kept beeping, opened and closed all doors and bonnet to no avail, then noticed the ignition switch was not completely turned to the switched off position, the ignition switch is worn, had to dismantle it a while back to remove some of the brass "fingers" and the key is a bit loose. Turned it all the way off and normal locking resumed.
