I just bin asked.....

"Would you happen to know if the honda accord 3.0 v6 lump will slot into my freelander 2.5 v6.

from what i understand the kv6 is a honda engine."

Anyone know?
My understanding is that the KV6 is a "K" series block.

Freelander v6 is the rover kv6. It is part of the k series range. But if you search the web for rover kv6 you'll see some were assembled on China. Not sure if this is engines built after the rover poor build on the originals fitted to rovers, (prior to Freelander use) after major recalls back to the rover factory, not dealers as the work was too difficult, in the 90’s.

Automotive World - China: SAIC begins production of KV6 gasoline engine

Back during Rover 800 production they fitted a Honda 2.7 V6 lump mated to a manual box. (Father had one and it was sooooo quick!!)

If this engine was available as an automatic option (99% sure it was) then this could be a possibile contender....

My guess would be that it can't be far off the KV6 (mountings wise) as that was fitted into R800's as well.

Regards,

Steve

It should be noted that the 2.5 L Honda V6 is a completely different engine from the Rover KV6 Engine introduced in 1996, although the two share the same nominal 2.5 L capacity and a V6 architecture.

But the question remains - were the same auto boxes used and are the mountings the same??

I thought the auto boxes were more BMW than Rover, though not sure on this.

good links peeps, although use Wiki wisely.

Best to double check or cross reference any stuff on Wiki. Anybody can edit on Wiki, if you have given substantial reason, then it stands.
