Hi , Any of you mechanical geniuses out there ever come up with an alternative tool for holding the injection pump pulley on a 300tdi when the pump is being removed ? At £120 for the original tool I'd be interested to hear if there is an alternative . Thanks , Gerry .

You probably wouldn't be able to make it cheaper than buying the kit once you consider metal, machine time and postage, plus the kit also comes with all the flywheel timing pins which the OP will need some time in the future. That said, if you can get crank pulley holding tools similar to this made that would be more useful, when I got mine a couple of years ago they were around the £55 mark but looks like they are creeping up in price.

How does it work, does it just bolt into the crank pulley? Send me a drawing with measurements and I'll get it priced. We have profile cutters, cnc's etc so most things can be made in house.

Yes it is attached using the 4 bolt holes in the crank pulley, the arm then rests on the chassis rail as a counter-hold when you undo (or do up) the main crank bolt. Unfortunately mine is in storage as I'm prepping for a house move at the moment so can't measure it up.

Priced the crank pully tool up today using rough sizes a quickly found via google. For a 1 off it would be around £60 + aprox £7 post if I can batch them 10 or more at a time it would go down to £40 + post
