Made a simple fold out awning for the rear of the landy. I have a fold down rear door cooking platform and wanted something to keep the rain and sun off. Measures approx 1.2M by 1m.

Made from aluminium box section and some old army canvas. Sprayed with etch primer and black stone chip. Mounts onto the back of the roll cage.

It works pretty well. Tested in moderate wind and light rain.

I'm going to stitch on some triangular sections on the sides with a pegable guy ropes for extra security in high wind and rain.

total cost - £30

Mate that's not bad at all. Keep tweaking and keep us posted. Nice one.

Obviously it would attach as well to a roof bar or rack.
We made (Idesigned and my wife sewed) a small porch awning for our pop-top caravan, and find that this fits nicely on the car - hopefully for an overnight stop!

nice idea!! - ive been thinking about making a soft top sort of idea for my flat deck....what sort of canvas would it need to be to stand up to the pressure at speeds??

I used thick green, ripstop canvas, taken from an old Army Tent. Seems pretty resilient.
