Hi

Sorry if this is obvious, but Im tearing down my first engine, a Discovery 200TDI

What are these 3 holes filled with sealant, one either side of fuel lifter, then one on side of vacuum pump housing?

Cheers

Thought I'd share the photo of my 200Tdi engine c/o Turner Engineering and prior to me building up pre-install. I remember these 3x holes filled with some sort of industrial mastik and thought at the time, that's odd. Didn't question it as it's a TE rebuilt engine.

Ooooh ... engine porn :p

Wait til next year as am planning on fitting an 3.0ltr M57 engine plus all the bells & whistles to the Ninety. I'm planning this as a forever keeper spec' Ninety for me and my darling gal to enjoy on long distance adventure/touring trips.

I'll be keeping all the existing Gwyn Lewis HD components + upgrading diffs, driveshafts, props, txfr box, a freshly rebuilt HD gearbox. I'll remove all the silly BMW diesel engine clogging silliness, strip and rebuild the M57 this coming winter keeping it to relatively std power at ~220-230bhp with lots of low end grunty torque. The project will give me a mountain climbing Ninety Soft Top that will sit at 80mph for hours on end.

The 200Tdi and all the new ancillaries will be up for sale as a complete package early 2025. Someone will get a very good deal and skip a huge amount of hard work.
