Hi guys, hoping someone can help me. i have a 1998 freelander 1.8 petrol.
had it for about 6 months and its ran fine.
few days ago i started it and the idle speed went up to about 2500 rpm and wouldnt come down, tried turning it off and re starting but still doing it.
drove it for about 7 miles during which time it warmed up fine and ran fine except the high idle.
I stopped to put some petrol in and when i re started it was back to normal, it ran normal for the rest of the day.
It was the left for about 36 hrs and when i started it the idle was back up high.
Again drove for a few miles it warmed up fine and ran fine otherwise, i stopped for about 45 mins and when i re started it again all was back to normal.

Any ideas on the problem would be awesome
Thanks in advance

Hi
It's customary to introduce yourself on here in the new members section ;)
As for your fault? It's likely the idle air control valve is sticking. It's a common problem but easily fixed with a spray of carb cleaner or WD40.
