Hey everyone,

recently i started to blow more and more black smoke and my fuel consumption went quiet to the roof. Last fuel tank i made maybe 550km on.

i got here the CSV files of the nanocom anyone could help me to get closer to the issue of why iam over fuelling would be really appriciated.

EGR delete, new airfilter,

Although I am not accusing you (@MrKay ) of anything untoward, it is very dangerous to click on a link that will download a binary file to your pc.
It is the most common way to transmit a virus.
Makes absolute sense 😄 I couldn’t attach the files in here, could you guide me into the right direction how to share the CSV files in here?

Hi, check the al the boost hoses especially to not have a loosen clamp or a crack cos it seems there is a slight boost leak otherwise the readings are within limits it doesnt seem a management issue, check the intercooler too it should have traces of black muck if it has a crack

btw, Eu2 or Eu3 engine?, manual or auto?

Thank you for looking at it. I will check the hoses and the intercooler tomorrow.

It’s 2003 , 15P, i guess it’s the Eu3 that’s what the VIN number says:

Emission Directives - Euro Consolidated Directive 3 [053AS];Exhaust Gas Recirculation - Non EGR Cooler [037AP]

Small Update - I couldn’t find any boost leak so far all hoses are tight and in a good state. Couldn’t see any traces on the intercooler.

It seems the over fuelling is getting worse since I blow more and more black smoke when accelerating. Is it possible that I could be the injector seals?

Just broke my front diff on the weekend, the disco is keeping me busy…. I will take a closer look at the intercooler.

Even though the readings look OK unplug the MAF and drive it so for test.... is the EGR bypassed?
If bypassed means blanked , yes it is. Installed a EGT gauge in the blanking plate.

Will go for unplugging the MAF sensor if I get the Front Diff today I should be ready for a test drive in the evening hopefully latest tomorrow I will be back with an update.

The good girl is back on the road!

Took a small drive with MAF plugged in - strong accelerating caused a huge black cloud.

Unplugged it - I feel abit the power loss, I can say zero black smoke. I recorded the the drive on the nanocom burning believe it’s safe to say it’s the MAF sensor which is faulty even showing „the right stats“?

As i said it doesnt seem a management issue, it's overfuelled for some reason and a bit low on boost... might be from the injectors or the turbo if you are certain that there is no boost leak... is it manual or auto? also how many threads are left out from the locknut on the wastegate?

Fery, is it just me or does the fuel temp look high compared to the coolant temp, shouldn't the gap be a bit bigger, say 20C difference? The ECU uses the fuel temp to vary fuel injection because warmer fuel is less dense, so it would chuck more in, so if the fuel is actually cooler than that then it would over fuel.... Just a thought.

PS.. I had a temp sender that was bad ~10 years back and it affected my mileage quite heavily.

I've seen many logs and 10*C difference between the ECT and FT is quite usual and considered normal, as about hight FT input AFAIK when it exceeds 75*C a smoke limiter map kicks in and the ECU reduces the IQ(injected quantity), the higher the rpm gets the more limited the IQ it is.

Hey there - it’s a manual. To be honest i don’t know how the threads would be counted I took a photo. Found some oil under - tied up the screws.

I double checked the loom on ECu plug and the plug on the harness both absolutely dry.

Question which came up before - seems to be Euro 3:
Emission Directives - Euro Consolidated Directive 3 [053AS];Exhaust Gas Recirculation - Non EGR Cooler [037AP];
