Hi all,

As I am sure we are all aware getting a set of 7.5r16 tyres for a reasonable price is very difficult. I am looking at a few options
1. Michelin XZL which I have found for £170 per tyre
2. Changing to 235/85/16 which will cost approx £1400 for 5 with comforser AT tyres
3. hifly tral van which are a bit of a dark horse. I have never heard of them before and they are sold at half the price of Michelins I have seen them in stock with a local fitter and online (https://www.protyre.co.uk/tyres/van-tyres/hifly/tral-van-100/product ).

I know options 1 and 2 are both safe bets and I will get a good tyre and hurt the wallet which is ok. But... If anyone has any good experience of these ones let me know. They look decent in photos but we know that can be deceiving. I have no doubt they would arrive if ordered just curious if they are any good.

Thanks guys

Used the van type tyres before(local truck tyre chap gets them cheaper)
No problems on road or grass while towing extra large horse trailer.

Can’t remember if these are recasted/remould type tyres. But as they truck tyres they have to pass tests
Used them 4 years no problems

I've got standard 16x5.5 series wheels and 50/50 off road/ road use. I mostly only drive on the road to get somewhere like a green lane etc.
Ok, sadly the choice keeps getting less and less in the UK. Although mainland Europe gets much better choice including 7.00 size.

I quite like the XZL, a good strong tyre and ideal for laning. But some surfaces they don't work so well on. For £170/tyre I'd say go for these instead:

Set of 4 here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25624461...uid=D-qw6ZliQpm&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Nicer on road and probably the best Mud Terrain money can buy.

My brother has a set and they are superb off road.

A more budget option, these would be good laning and surprisingly good on road given how aggressive they are:

I'm not familiar with the Higly tyres and they haven't appeared on my searches. Do you have a link?
