The MOT wont tell you, just the older ones im sure said colour ect, all i meant was to get as much history on it as possible, in case in the unlikely event Mr VOSA wants to inspect it, a really unlikely scenario by the way.
 
Hi just spoke to the guy he .has had it for 3 years. and he got it of a mate who
had it for about 4 years. and he has the details of the guy he got it off. But all he has is some old MOT going back 6years. It is on the RR reg and says RR on the documents it's just the body that's been change.
So do you think it will be ok

If it was a ringer I think I be able to tell .or it wood have to be really good and how wood. He have old MOT s and details of who he got it of

If it was built after 97, and it hasn't had an IVA it's a ringer. Because the ID is illegal. The term Ringer doesn't just apply to stolen vehicles. Also it's simple enough to buy a scrapper keep the paperwork and then put it onto another vehicle.

So how would you be able to tell if it's a Ringer??
 
I doubt very much its a ringer But beware. you can date things like axles withaxle numbers. IF its a pre 73 rangy with a series body then no problem IF all the parts check out. At least if any doubters moan the axles, engine and running gear canal be date matched.

Remember people have been building hybrids since the 50's so cutting up an old 70's rangie and fitting a series body on it was and is commonplace. Getting one that's nice is the difficult part. Me for my piece of mind I'd get axle numbers/ gearbox numbers etc and make sure they conform to the dates etc. That said many things change in a landys life we swap axles all the time without thinking but I'd be careful but not necessarily put off the idea
 
thanks .just waiting for him to send me more pics and info. .and theni am going to ask him for the contract for the to perverse owners. and if i contact them and all say the same thing. then i think i go for it
 
From what you have posted it sounds like you have already made up your mind. I would run away as fast and as far as I could. I may be a sceptical old fart but it sounds like a whole heap of trouble.
 
This got a bit complicated; in short because chassis was modified it means it prob (defo if shortened)needs iva if done after 1997. If you cant prove that, its not legit, end of. You havent got proof, so its not legit. If it had an rrc chassis at 100" with a series body that had been modded to fit ( like on 4x4 is born) then its fine as the body doesnt count in these matters ie the IVA
 
Depends on wheel base but there has been 80 86 88 comp motors made since Rangies were new in the 70's. one guy brought a brand new rangy in the early 90's before even getting it took it to be cut down bobtailed from new. The problem is proving it and Vosa being them will pull you and they are right until you prove them wrong. Many a legit hybrid gets slated especially on ere but unless you have proof then its hard. Finding an old photograph of the motor after it was built may be helpful.
