I need some advice before I set about reviving my 110 from a long period of hibernation. I'm ashamed to admit it hasn't moved or been started for just over a year and I'm a bit unsure about what I need to do before I attempt to start it up.
It's in good nick generally, with a low-mileage flat 2.5 diesel engine and bog-standard ex-military trim (XCL tyres on steel wheels, etc) with no mods apart from a new hard-top and seats. The battery's been disconnected since I last used it (November 2004) and the only other thing I can tell you about it is that the plug on the fuel tank has been leaking, leaving a sizeable hole in the tarmac underneath! I can see the front discs have a fair bit of visible corrosion, as has the rest of the underside, but it still seems to be reasonably solid. I'm in Spain, if that makes any difference.
I'm thinking I should ditch the battery and get a new one, first off, but is there anything else I should do or beware of before attempting to starting up and drive off?
I'd appreciate any advice, or maybe links to web pages that might help.
Thanks.
