Just thought I'd say hi, new to land rovers just bought myself a 5 speed manual 2.5 tdi discovery. It totally standard but I intend on keeping it a daily driver but also being able to go out and have fun also. So I will probably be asking silly questions for which I apologise in advance,

Welcome to the mad house, just get yourself some all terrains on it and go out and enjoy yourself. They are pretty capable in standard spec then you can upgrade stuff as you need to, that's what I've done with my tratter.
