I thought i would introduce myself now that I have finally brought a Series 2a. I have wanted one for over 20 years but circumstances never allowed- I have always had to have a reliable and efficient car as I do a lot of travelling.

I started looking at 2a's in good condition but I actually thought it would be more fun to try and get a project back on the road. I finally brought on today!! it needs a new rear cross member, some welding, new tub, doors, seats, hard top, rewire- apart from that it is pretty good:p

I am not going to put a time frame on it as I want to do it properly- I am going to enrole on a welding course and try and do it myself. No doubt I will be spending a lot of time on here asking how to do things.

After browsing the site for a few weeks I have learnt that it is advisable to use the search facility before asking stupid questions :p are there any other "rules" I should be aware of to prevent be getting a volley of verbal abuse?

Hiya and Welcome Fellow Lutoner!

Well if you need a rear tub let me know I think I know of a rear one pretty straight that might be up for sale soon.

HEad over to Hertfordshire Laners section you can read through but it will take you weeks!! say hi in there as there is loads of us around Luton (Beds) that play with our landies also have a monthly pub meet to chat and catch up with whats happening with us all.

All the best

www.reconrovers.com for some of what I and a few other locals get up to.

Thanks for the welcome. I will defintiely pop along when i have got it back on the road.

I have now got the tub sorted. I picked one up from Crewe last weekend- it was a hell of a journey as I was towing an Ifor Williams twin axle trailer with a Vectra. By the time i had the trailer, tub, screen and a couple of doors it was sarting to struggle.

Hehe no problem if you need any bits do shout there is plenty here going.

I'm working on the offroader on my drive unfortunatly all day tomorrow try and get my 80 inch rolling again.

We managed to fit the front rollcage outriggers welded them all up solid with the extra plating to comply for comps. Will make the rear plates tomorrow and try and bolt them up on Sunday. Need to find a local fastners place tht sells bolts on a Saturday. Doh

GTood luck with your motor keep sending updates on the Herts thread or in the series forum
