Hello I'm Anthony, I'm based near Chichester west Sussex and I have just picked up a 1980 88 pickup. It Has a few issues but seems very solid overall and is road legal! Ive Sorted a few niggles already and have a big list still to go. The main one that's bugging me is the clocks and gauges don't work. I'll be having a play with them at the weekend. It's only going to be used as a weekend toy and something to lug crud around the garden.

Not going to be to everyone's taste but it looks a bit different now! The blue was well past it's best with yellow showing through anyway so it's not like I've destroyed a minter! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1340475585.977498.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1340475609.287454.jpg

you done a good job did you spray it or roller? what paint did you use? looks good and welcome i am still a newbie to all this , got mot monday must keep me fingers crossed

Good luck with the mot, it's rollered on and it's not too bad could do with a third coat though to cover the last few roller marks. I put a satin black hammerite coat on first to cover the blue then a thick coat of homebase own Matt black metal paint. Cost 12.99 and the roller was £1.80 in tesco lol

your lucky the paint did not pickle hammerite uses a stronger solvent than regular paints

It was very thin left for 48 hours and flatted back so should be ok. I won't be to upset if I have to use my spare tin of Matt black lol

will prop leave mine blue paints and body quite tidy will have to paint tailgate tho because it come of a green one cant wait till sunday will be first time ive drove it more than up and down the road outside my garage

Mine had a green roof a yellowish tailgate and big flakes of telecom yellow showing through the blue so it needed something, they are very different to anything I've ever driven on the road and I've had a fair few retro cars and some classic vws. Fun in their own way but very slow! Does yours have overdrive?

Thanks for the welcomes. quick question, does anyone know what headlights I've seen on a local defender are and where I can get them. They were crystal clear style ones but had a yellow/colourful tint to them almost like oil on water. Been prowling the web but can't find any.

Scrap the last question have found out what they are. Just need to find out if you can get them without the chavy angel eyes lol

Change of circumstances means I now need to shift this. Up for £800 will sort a proper sale thread when I get a minute.

Will see how it goes I'll let you know if I do. Hard to put a price on something i don't know much about. Seems they go for 500 odd as wrecks and 1000 upwards as roadworthy so I think 800 is fair but will have to see......
