Some of you will have read on the LZIR thread about me dicky selector issue.

Well, I stripped all the pretty bits off the tranny tunnel last weekend and have driven it a little bit this week - luckily I was based not far from home and only out for 3 days not a full 5.

Anyhows, the bugger is still jumping out on rather random circumstances, but what I have noticed is when engaging hi range - the stick doesn't seem to click all the way in, it seems to go most if not all of the way in, but there's still a little 'click' left that it just won't engage into.

Is that going to be slack in the linkage that needs to be tightened up or is the whole box suss and needing renewal?!?

Today I'm going to drop whatever fluid is in there and replace it wiv some nice shiny noo 90/140 to see if that does anything you never know some nice thick gloop might just tease the sod into compliance.

Never had a tranny apart  so I'm guessing here BUT....

On a Series gearbox jumping out can be caused by too much end float on shafts. Might be worth whipping off the props and checking output shaft nuts..

Then again that might be bullocks

The fun starts in aboot half hour. FiL on his way over. Old landy hand so we should have a better idea in a few hours.

Dropped the oil out of the tranny - all half a mug of it!! Nothing scary on drain plug magnet! :clap2:

Replaced with a lot more 80/90. Done front diff while under there.

Also noticed a couple of bushes that need sorting.

It did jump out once on the journey home from me mate's yard. So time will tell - gonna run it this week with pretty bits inside off just to see whats going on when it does/if it does pop out again. Its bucket loads quieter!

Might even rig up the gopro and angle it down alongside the linkage for further clues - as they say pitchers is worth a fousund wurds - so vijo will be priceless!!

Gonna take a look at some grub screw in the linkage under the lever housing as someone mentioned it in the what you done today fred!

Tbh I can't see it being the actual linkage. On me 109 there was so much slack the rattling drove me crazy and the lever wobbled all over the place but she didn't jump out.

Gonna give the more obvious stuff a try before even thinking about dismantling the box or sourcing another one.

Even if its source another. I'll prolly repair it as its 1.211.

Mine jumps out if it doesn't go fully home when selected. I give it another tug once rolling. Think it's just the transfer gear teeth not lining up perfectly at a standstill.

Never had it come out once it's gone home.

I've had this on several discos.

Only does it once usually shortly after moving the selector to either high or low and driving off. Once it's pushed home again it doesn't happen again until the next time I use it.

Thats exactly what mine does. If I put mine back in high drive it forwards a cars length and then give the lever another tug its fine.

I'm gonna run another few days as is. I'll take on board the tips about rolling forwards a length. Is that under load or clutch in? I've put the word out locally that I might be after a box just in case.
