Hello everyone.

My name is Kate and I've just joined the forum. I bought a Freelander yesterday off a Cornish farmer. I've been cleaning it all day today as the farmer used it to move sheep around the farm!

It's a 2000 model 1.8 and it drives well. The only issue I've got is that the clutch biting point is very low. The gears all select okay though. I've been enjoying driving it around the lanes here in Cornwall where I live.
 
Welcome to the forum and your Freelander.

If the gears are selecting fine (especially 1st at a standstill) don't worry too much about the low clutch pedal. Mine is the same and I have got used to it now and it hasn't changed in a few thousand miles. .

You should research the VCU (viscous coupling unit) and find out what a one wheel up test is. All Freelander owners need to know about that because a duff one can cost you an awful lot of money.

Enjoy looking over the hedgerows in the high up seating position and the confidence you get in the pouring rain or if you have to pull over on to a muddy verge to let something bigger go by.
 
Welcome Katie: Freelanders can be strange machines but I have to say that mine's the first car I've actually liked in about 30 years. Don't get phobic about what MIGHT go wrong, just give it attention and listen to all the good advice you can get here from all the guys who know shed-loads more than I do and then go out and enjoy your Freelander! Happy days!
