hi help!!

i have freelander Td4 2litre diesel its been eating fuel and today it stopped whilst doing 20mph the engine management light came on, it restarted, but after leaving it outside my house it wont restart, plenty of power but sounds like fuel not getting through, it was put on a diagnostics pc 2 days ago due to fuel consumption being heavy but nothing showed up, does any one have any ideas don,t want to get it towed away to expensive land rover garage!!!
