finally got rid of my old 99 td 5 disco with some trepidation and bought a disco 3 from a dealer with a years warranty this is just for pulling a twin axle caravan had it a week and engine management light comes on when I pull over switch engine off and on again its fine until I hit about 75 then it goes into limp mode taken truck back to dealer where he said it needs a software upgrade and a new air filter then it will be fine I don't believe him before I had it he reckoned he changed the egr valve at a cost of £300 does this sound plausible to any knowledgable disco owners I haven't had it two weeks yet and tempted to give it back and get a refund but I really like the truck its a tdv6 hse
any help would be appreciated
 
Well you do have the years warranty so have more cover than a lot of buyers, the dealer may of never known of the issue so give him some slack and see how it goes

Well, another D3 owner !! -I know nothing about them, buuut... I'm suprised our resident D3 eggspurt hasn't chimed in yet.... where is @gstuart when you need him ;) - ???

welcome

what year is it plse as if it's 2007 onwards and u decide to blank the egrs u need an egr software update

need to find out what codes is being reported back

may be

split turbo hose
sticking turbo actuator arm
see if the map is blocked

but , these are complicated cars and need a decent diagnosis with fault codes , however as you've got a warranty it shouldn't be a problem

plse let us know how u get on, assume you've done a full hpi and not check

any pics plse, we like pics, lol
 
Thanks very much for replying I just had a message from garage they said it was a blocked fuel filter and they have changed for a genuine land rover one and now all is ok again I'll keep you posted on results thanks again it's good to know there's people out there who knows about these things if only to confirm what you get told by the garage
