Thanks for the input I Googled 4203 and it looks the same rocker cover, otherwise was the previous owner who said bedford 2.2. so what's the verdict on them are they any good or is it worth swapping out?
as above I fitted one in a series 2 a it was a perkins 4203 one bad point very noisey

It's most certainly a 4.203. For clarification purposes, the numbers mean the following:
4 - 4 cylinder
203 - 203 cubic inches (3326cc)
I don't think that yours has been taken out of a forklift trucks. Those usually have different exhaust manifolds though heaven knows what would have been fitted and removed throughout the years.
