I have a freelander2 06 model, and just recently seems to have developed an electrical fault, you put in the key press starter button sometimes it starts ok! Then more recently nothing happens just comes up on the dash engine fault. I have checked though for any loose connections did find battery terminal had bit of movement sorted that out! but still get the problem either start on the button or just not starting and dash reading engine fault. When it starts ok I think I'll drive it but after a distance it cuts out sometimes it will start again and you can go fair distance with no probs or it just cuts out. I have found that sometimes if I lock the car wait and unlock it will start ok and I can continue driving. Sometimes the red engine light on the dash lights up have checked oil the water and find all ok! I know on our newer tractors if the water is low that can sent everything in panick mode! Hoping someone might be able to point me in right direction. Thinking I will prob have to take to the garage to sort as that one is afew miles away probably end up taking on a trailer, if anyone got any ideas what to look for then many thanks for your help.

Diagnostics for the warning light and check the battery is in top form. Any loss of capacity can bring a whole lot issues. Have the battery tested and get the biggest that'll for into the battery tray. Welcome to the green oval club:cool::D

Thanks for that info! I had a new battery while back, I was concerned about the battery a few weeks ago had it on charge but it didn't make much difference then! Will have another look at it! I know batteries these days don't last like they use too, we find if new they last 4 yrs on the tractors where original ones seem to go on many yrs. Any way thanks for your help!

Welcome to landyzone painting vehicles by brass brush and Dettol.

Start with a proper battery test, if that's OK I'd be hunting for a bad earth somewhere. Wouldn't hurt to stick decent diagnostics on it either!
