Just saying hi!

had my 110 TD5 CSW since 2002 and it’s been great. Now on 140,000+ miles and still going strong tho starting to show its age- mot advisory on rear cross member rust, electrolytic corrosion, door frames rusted out etc. Still the TD5 just keeps on running!

looking for general advice and ideas on where to go next... rear cross member / galvanised or not or should I just go all out on new chassis etc lol

Anyway, hi - good to be here,

Robert

Tratters with rust problems is a popular topic on ere. Covered in lots of fred's in the tratter section below. Have a look in there to see what others have done to repair the same faults of their tratters.

Hi and welcome!

A galvanised chassis is better than just replacing the rear crossmember but a lot more expensive. However, if the crossmember needs changing, the rest of the chassis might need looking at. And if you replace the chassis, there will likely be a lot more that you will change due to having the opportunity to do so or finding that parts need changing... Some with their recommendations will be along but better still, use the search function and explore the numerous posts about replacing and repairing chassis’ on here.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi and welcome to Landyzone.

I’ve had the chassis and doors done on mine. As others have said, it’s not cheap.

Good luck with it.

:)
