I have been wanting a 4x4 for quite a while and finally decided to do something about it, test drove X-Trail's , CR-Vs and Freelander 2 and decided I liked the FL2 the best.
Find a nice one from a private seller outside Oldham, it is Cat D from a stolen-recovered situation but that doesn't bother me. Condition is excellent all round including the interior and it is fine on the test drive. I get a good price and set off back to Leeds, just get off the M62 and the clutch sticks to the floor.
Got recovered back to my local garage and get the news the DMF has disintegrated taking the slave cylinder with it, probably going to be slightly under £1000 once it's fixed.
Speak to the guy who sold it and he insists nothing like it has ever happened before and from speaking to the garage it does seem like it has just been one of those things.
To sum up then, I have a lovely FL2 HSE that I haven't got to drive yet really! My thinking is I got it for a good price and I plan on keeping it for a good few years so it isn't the end of the world but it has taken a bit of the sheen off the experience!
