Does a mechanic not mean physically works on. Tech means plugs into a machine, to diagnose what the mechanic needs to do?Izzat something like a mechanic, then?

What I was actually wondering was if I could smell the merest hint of chopped meat frying?
Just the merest hint on the strong wind, if you see what I mean.

It's the permanent 2WD, convertible option and stuff like that that makes some sceptical. Historically the thing that made a Land Rover was always the offroad capability, and you must admit the Evoque is about as far from the traditional brief as they've ever got.Welcome to the forum
The RR snob's on ere don't like evoque's because they're little range rover's. Vast majority of LZ forum members have never driven an evoque.
(Personally I just see it as a car that's not made for me, and that's OK)

They are easy to fix especially if they have electrical issuesHhmmmm , he has insider knowledge of Landrovers and yet bought one..........cant be that bright then

Sorry, is your contention here that your evoque is more capable off road than a Range Rover Classic, or a modern Range Rover?
Both to be honest if evoque has active driveline will beet any old or new range rover. range rover tyres to wide off road also range rover uses abs to control power to wheels where as active driveline can send %100 of engine power to 1 wheel with most traction

A lot of Evoques crossed the Darien Gap have they?
All that electronic stuff might mean a useless driver can control it better in half an inch or mud, but all the electrics in the world aren't better than a good off road driver in a real off roader. There's a reason Toyota still fit rigid axles to the 70 series, the one that does proper off road work. There's also a reason lots of Land Rover fans of old are looking at the Ineos Grenadier.
