I've been a trained commercial vehicle mechanic for 42+ years and never never ever seen a commercial 24 volt vehicle battery.

I can remember and have worked on high tech vehicles like the "Atkinson Borderer 180", Thames Traders, Ford's D Series and loads of other high class from the 60's/70's vehicles.

Pray tell me, which vehicle had single 24 volt battery fitted???

Seen them as a wooden box with 12 single cells, I think it was on ex WD trucks.

Ah memories, the old Akkie's, Seddon's (before they joined forces),ERF's that would wear out a driver before the wagon and the Ford D series with a hand brake built to confuse. What a load of crap they were ! Taking an ERF to London with a blanket wrapped around my knees, because of the holes in the cab, was no joke. Showing my age ? :D

I used to get to drive an old Albion under floor, gearbox was a right barsteward:rolleyes:

And don't forget the good old AEC 8 leggers with steering wheels 3 foot in diameter with VACUUM Assisted Brakes.:(:(:(

If you were lucky a new vehicle would be fitted with Air Brakes...:)
