Didn't expect any pandering and appreciate the warnings of the problems i may, or in your opinion will encounter. Just feel you could perhaps work on your interpersonal skills a little :)

why dont you put a few grand towards it and trade it in and get a old defender

The guys and girls one here are hardcore and know shed loads about there subject FL's good and bad. Like you I did the research after I bought the FL and thought "bloody hell" the same as you. Truth is they do have there probs but I suspect most of us (me included) have done the passat mondeo focus thing and would never swop back to such a bland motor. They do need to be well maintained and sounds like yours has been so enjoy!

Thought i'd stop by and tie up this thread! Just sold our freelander after nearly a year and about 7000 miles. In this time i spent £20 replacing a worn diff mount. It walked the only MOT i put it through. Sold it for £400 profit :)

Anyway, thanks for the advice - made any journey a constant worry something was gonna blow up or break expensively! Also hopefully shows that despite all the (maybe deservedly) bad press there are still a few decent freelanders out there. Well one anyway! :)
