HG gone how much £ ?

Head gasket just gone on my 2000. 1.8 still runs fine but obviously not driving it, how much should I expect to pay? Been quoted £500 Inc timing belt but ringing round tomorrow. Any suggestions for garages near bury lancs?

hi my wife paid about the same at LRC in Congleton cheshire it would cost you at least double at a main dealer but do not for get the VAT hope this helps

Cheers, this was a rough back street garage that quoted that...looks like the price is right then

Paid £500 5 years ago for new gasket, timing belt and head skim, this was on the K series 1.8 Rover 75 so would think £600 would roughly be the price now. You really need a specialist engine repair company or an extremely good garage or you will be wasting your hard earned cash.

That's a good price but insist they use a 'head saver' and Payen head gasket even if they ask for a few quid more.
