Heres a nice little trick!

I did the timing belt on my 300Tdi defender this weekend so i had lot of bolts to keep organised to make sure they went back in place!

The timing cover has a bunch of bolts that are all different lengths so here is a good trick i use at work sometimes.

Rather than stabbing random holes in some cardboard use the new gasket to make a pattern in the cardboard poke holes into it and then you can keep the bolts in the right order.

300tdi timing belt is very easy to do if you take your time and make sure you have read how to do it.

I did mine for the first time a few weeks ago and it's a lot easier than you think. Saved a fortune.

as Mr @neilly says, not a bad job at all, take your time after watching a few youtube vids, and you should be fine - make sure you have the right type of torque wrench though, first

Watch a few vids, I would recommend the Landrover toolbox videos, Even tho I think they now charge for the 300tdi timing belt change vids, I think it comes out to the grand total of £4......

TBH , a long weekend is not a good time to do it, because if you find you have forgotten something how will you get it?

To be honest, unless I've forgotten something I can pick up at the local car parts store (which really isn't that local), I'll have to order it for delivery anyway.
Thankfully I've now bought a cheap run-around so can cope without the van if I get stuck mid-way through and have to wait for bits.

Make sure to use 6 sided sockets on the bolts, you may find they can be very tight and can be prone to rounding off.
