right gentle men, to my horror i found my rear shocks were snapped yesterday 2 days after buying the car. ive took raz up on his advice and bought 2 tins of wd40 to help get the bolts un done (cheers fella) just wonderin if any of you have any tips when doin them? also doin my rear diff gasket while im down there same questions with that tips or problems, also anyone in liverpool know where to get a haynes manual for support, its a 1994 2.5 diesel tdi es.

ive got a broken finger cause from the weekend. . . .some of the bolts if you have not got an air gun are gonna be a bitch. . . a complete bitch. dont slip when undoing rear shocks and hit the rear disks = fookin hurts and broke my finger!!!

lot of the thread ends will be really bad so be careful when undoing bolts, we had problems with the bottom end of the shocks when undoing them. had to clamp the shock and then unscrew them!!

if your doing this at the weekend i can scan in the pages you will need if thats any help from the haynes manual.

Don't know about a disco but for my 110 I bought a new set of bolts only about 16 quid for front and rear all suspension bits. Not worth struggling with stubborn ones get the grinder on em.

What signs showed, when you realise your rear shocks broke, did you hear a noise or did it start driving like a complete bitch?

Only want to know because I have a strange knocking from the back end when driving along a normal road.

true true. . .but its nice to take it all apart in one piece

Plenty of Heat, 1M tommy bar and a 24stone Door man that feels no pain got mine off in one piece

would it hurt to get a set of new shocks for a bout a tenner off ebay and just wizz the old ones off at the bottom, half the time and benefit from new shocks for pennies. matt ill try to print the RAVE page off if i can figure out how to do it and yer can pick it up.

yu mite find it easier to remove top shock mounting bracket , rather than the top shock fitting.

the bottom ones yu need a strap wrench or mole grips around the base of the shock.

Or a pair of stillsons round your shock

much easier with cuttin disc in angle grinder as already said

lol cheers fellas filling me full of optomisim lol, i noticed they were gone cos i was drivin down the motorway and every time i went over a bump it would bounce me into another lane lol scary stuff. thanks for all the response lads, just ordered the shocks of ebay £20 for the pair they should be here tommorow so wish me luck lmao
