HI, ive just bought a disco 200tdi and im having problems with if. It will go into gear but not into hi, low or diff lock. Therefore when i try to set off there is nothing there. Does any one have any idea what it could be cause im lost.

cheers andy!

There is a bit of a technique to getting the transfer leaver to move. Well I say technique, its more just a case of juggling the clutch and gas a bit, and trying to push the leaver in. Sometimes itl pop out again as you are driving along if you have only just moved it.

Failing that I cant help!

hiya parsons! when you say "It will go into gear but not into hi, low or diff lock. Therefore when i try to set off there is nothing there. Does any one have any idea what it could be cause im lost." can you not move the lever at all??? if so try the suggestions given, wd40, duck oil any form of penetrating fluid really, or do you mean its moving but not giving you a gear??????

also when using the transrfere box like mention i select 1st then easy off the clutch with a bit of pressure on the stick and it goes in nicley but make sure its in! just hold the lever in postition the first time you take off, not nice when yer pull out of a junction and all of a sudden it just revs with on comming traffic.

p.s the clutches are a pain in the rear to bleed on these. may take a while.

With a spongy clutch you may find that this fault it due to a badly bled clutch, of streching pipes or something, a similar thing happened on my 90 when the fluid leaked out - the clutch released enough to get it into gear, and the main gearbox has synchromesh, but the transfer box appeared to be jammed. filling and bleeding the clutch fixed it.
