Hi can anyone give me some help,
I've got a 300 TDI diesel disco. The head gasket went just before we were off on holiday so I managed to get it repaired but I could only get a paynes gasket. Their two spot gasket is thinner than the landrover one and all sort of problems have occured since then.
The story continues with no7 rocker finger(arm) breaking on the way to Cornwall. We got on the back of a towtruck and off we went. Found a nice garage and got it fixed again. A week later No 2 broke, got it fixed again and managed to nurse it home.
We redid the head gasket getting the head skimmed this time and off we went again. She sounded a bit tappetty so we redid the tappets and off we went again. Yesterday No 3 went.
I am at wits end, could it be the valve timming, the belt might have jumped half a notch?
Can some one help !!
 
did you turn yer enjin over by hand a half dozen times berore starting it? that usually lets you know if yer timing is out. did you tension the fooker correctly, and i don't mean as per haynes cos their not always right.
