Hello chaps,I'm trying to change my rear discs and pads, done one side no problem, n/ s is being a b,stard, caliper came off no bother but the 2 star bolts holding the slider won't move..have cleaned all the crud from round them, sprayed loads on wd on, even tried some heat but can shift em,so far have broken a good quality ratchet trying, any ideas?

I thought from memory, read up on it , then decided mine were OK.

Plus have double checked, you are only meant to remove one bolt and pivot the carrier away from the disc.

Cheers

Sounds like a similar procedure to my Mazda 6, BUT it can lead to the caliper bolt thats not removed seizing, so if you can get both bolts out its a good idea.
you can then clean/lube them before re assembly, I use the copper free high temp grease now days.

Have you tried a good quality penetrating spray? ie plus gas?

Cheers
Thanks everybody, some great people on here as always, finally moved em by using a brand new socket with no strech in it, loads of wd, heated em up a bit then got a 3 ft breaker bar on,what a b@ gger, never had that much aggro with em before, thanks very much for being on the ball and replying quickly, happy new year if its not too late

As @neilly asked, "Have you tried a good quality penetrating spray? ie plus gas?"
The reason why he and now I ask that is because "wd" as you call it, I presume you mean WD40 is frankly about as much use as a "wing mirror on a jumbo jet" as a release/penetrating oil, unless it is the newer "WD-40 Specialist Fast Release Penetrant" releasing oil by the same company as the one which makes WD-40. The usual stuff in the spray can is a water displacement/dispersant agent which is great on a wet distributor cap, and it might work on a stuck thread in a wrist watch, but if you've got to use a three foot breaker bar then you're into a different ball game needing proper penetrating fluids.

Hiya, yes it was the new wd I was using and plenty of it too,I usually use plus gas or duckoil but only had that to hand, got there in the end but re kon it was more due to brute force and ignorance than anything else

I am still waiting to use my witches brew of Acetone and ATF.........................:D:D:D:D.........

Cheers

Acetone is normally present in blood and urine, so truly a witches brew, also people whom are diabetic produce it in larger amounts, acetone that is, according to my brief Google search :D

Sent from my iPad Air in Maderia.
