help with variant

Hi All I have a 2005 XEI TD4 fitted with the BMW engine when looking for parts they ask for 2 variants. How do you find which one is which ? Im looking to replace the prop as the VCU went pete tong and took out the IRD @ £748.00 So its in 2 wheel drive

They should be able to identify from the chassis number, what is the difference between the variants?

An XEi is a pre 2001 petrol model.

not wishing to disagree with a esteemed senior member but the V5 and all relevant paperwork states its a 1951cc td4 XEI first registered in 2005 !!

he may be thinking of the earlier models XEI petrol and XEDI diesel

Are you replacing the whole prop or just the VCU?

whatever cost effective ! not sure about getting one from breakers as been informed these only have a life of 70,000 miles :confused2:

Your talking about the vcu which sit's in the middle of the 2 props.

Bell Engineering will help with the VCU and an IRD.

They are specialists in a Freelander 1 4x4 stuff-IRD, Rear a Diff and VCU.

Highly recommended.

the only difference is in between the v6 and other models the v6 is different , my old car had done about 170000 before I had trouble with the vcu but it is according how you drive them if you drive it roughly then you can expect things to fail earlier
