Hi Everyone,
I’m new here, and we’ve just acquired a 2004 RR Vogue 4.4 V8. The previous owner had to change the battery, and I’m suspecting this is the cause of the blank sat nav screen, although unconfirmed. The previous owner said it had suddenly become intermittent, but we’ve not seen it on at all since we took it 4 days ago.
The screen is backlit but blank. We’ve tried pulling fuse 49 for a while, and no fix. We’ve had a look at the sat nav unit in the rear left of the boot. The connections to the unit have been cleaned just in case but didn’t show any signs of corrosion. However, whilst husband was digging about he did find some corrosion on connectors going to a unit that looked like an amplifier, however unconfirmed if that’s its actual job. We cleaned them up and again no change.
The GPS unit does have the little red power light on. I’m suspecting the GPS unit or the head unit itself has been fried? What do fellow owners with more experience than me think? Would a battery reset done correctly help at all, or is it more terminal now?
I’m sure I also read among my research that it can battery dying or being changed that can cause issues with the headlight wipers and when I checked them only the drivers side is working. I don’t know if that’s useful info or irrelevant.
Thanks in advance
Nicky
