If no fan....odds on its the hedgehog.
A hand.What's a cup holder?!!!!
Easy but can be expensive, my last divorce cost me a fortune.Bollocks! The one thing in the car that my wife uses all of the time in the winter. How difficult are they to replace?
I ran with no stat for a while....never got above 80degC......

on the td6 there is another thermostat on the egr, easy to get at, when you take the first cover off in front of the rad, it has a bleed screw on top. These have been known to stick open and quite a few peeps have had a lot of success changing it out. Think mine needs doing as temperature gauge rarely gets past the 10 to 5 to position, not too expensive either. The stat is fixed into an elbow housing.....to remove mine I had to physically break it out of the housing....without breaking the housing itself....easy enough to do so could have been done to yours.

Hi Glen, just had a quick look and various photos reveal bmw part no, 2 247 723. BEHR comes up as the equivalent part. One way to confirm is to whip off the black cover at the front ( in front of rad ) and the part no should be visible if it's the same then happy days only 20 quid as apposed to lr 50 to 70 quid. Shall check mine when I get chance.

Hi Glen, just had a quick look, and it is the same number I quoted in the previous post for the egr thermostat. Sounds like yours and my car are going through similar maintenance. I've recently had the g/box refurbed, new rims and tyres and lots of service items, discs, calipers, pads, filters etc. Would I change it NO. Beautiful car to drive and couldn't be further away from my old td5. Best of luck with your car.
Greg.
