Help with door locks needed urgently

hi, I am a new member, my apologies if this has been covered before. I have a 2004 freelander that has been sitting fo a couple of years, and I want to get it back on the road, however.. the battery is flat and the doors won’t open, the battery in the fob is new and the key won’t work. I think if I can get a new battery on the central locking will work again, I need to know how I can get the bonnet open before my husband smashes a window to get to the catch! Help!

Does it turn both ways with no effect? Or does it not turn at all

Drivers door lock is mechanical amd needs no battery to open with a key. Try turning key both ways and the door should unlock. Unless it is the wrong key!!

I'm sure someone posted a thread a while ago about getting into their bonnet after the cable snapped?

If the car was locked with the fob, isn't it super locked or something and needs the ECG code (or what ever it is) sequence used on the drivers door to open it - which will require tricity. Or is that just to calm the computers down after the door opens with the key?

Can you reach under to the starter motor and get a junp lead onto thefeed cable coming from the battery maybe let it charge for time

Yes, but the driver's door key should override the superlocking.

No Emergency Access Code on the post 2000 FL1, as it uses a transponder key. The early system used a transponder in the fob, so if it failed, the EAC was to disable the immobilizer.
