Help with cold starting

Was a new 1000cca Battery installed last year, i doubt the battery is knackred already (id fooked off if it was)

Earths are a possibility. Can you point me to the main engine to earth terminal ?

stick a jump lead from the bat neg to engine block to test.

300tdi, main earth is on back of the gearbox/transfer box on mine, 2 connected at same point, one to batt, other to chassis, under passenger side, next to battery box.

other earths, one on bulkhead to right of the servo, and 2 on one stud to either g/b or chassis under drivers side

Feels like something is draining that battery tho
Should be fine after a 19 hr charge. Il investigate with the multimeter

i'd forget the plugs. when the battery is charged, does it turn over quickly or slowly struggling?

If quickly for a while, then i'd look at fuel leak back. if slowly, then recheck the connections, try smacking the starter with a hammer.

multi tests, whack volts across the battery and leave there. it should read above 12.4 volts to begin. start it, voltage shouldn't drop below 9.6 volts, then when it's started and alt kicks in it should go up around 14.

voltage at battery fitting : 11.6
when starting voltage drops to 5.7 to 6.9 and is fairly slow and pathetic
(Noticed a buzzing noise when key is half turned, is that normal ?)
Took battery out (never started) voltage = 11.5
charging in shed voltage 11.59 atm

I am charging it with quite a ****y looking charger (looks like an ac adapter with 2 nipple clamps coming off it... could be useful in the bedroom)

****ing Numax Lesiure battery = not fit for purpose, deep cycle concerns were correct...still may be good for caravan tho (along with nipple electrolizer)

Ther is your problem a leisure battery is made for a caravan to take plenty of charges and its lets its power out slowly for long periods for 12 v lights small water pump draw. Not a friggin heavy draw starter motor .
Plus leaving any battery to lose its charge and sit discharged in cold weather is in most cases the death of a battery .

it might have been drained with you dicking on though. give it a good charge until full and try again.

was it a numax cxv-x? lot of people use them and they have a 3 Years Guarantee

do the tests again when it's fully charged.

yup, however the numax cxv-x has been recommended around all the forums for a while now. if they all dies within a year or so, i'm sure we would have heard about it.

also it is marketed as a 1000 mca cranker and 'Deep-cycle & Starting', so it should be fit for purpose.

Or the fact that boats and motor homes and most cars they are fitted to start good down to servicing ect the one that have trouble and require many cycles to start kill leisure battery's .

Yes there even more powerfull in many ways output and discharge

Bloody expensive :)
