Hi guys I am hoping you can advise me on a problem with my rear suspension.

I have disco 2 td5 2003, Its new to me and my first Land rover, I am enjoying it but I have learnt very quickly that its going to be an ongoing project. Spent quite a bit on it so far with breaks (the three amigos) rear hubs, pads and disks rear, water pump, tracking, and a few other bitts and bobs inc a full service.

I have now worked my way down the list to he rear suspension problem and I am trying to work out what is causing it, the rear drivers side is drooping down slighting, I had it in at the garage again to do the rear hubs and breaks and whilst it was there I asked if they could look in to it for me to work out the cause. Apparently the air bag is fine with no leaks but the ride hight sensors are perished, could this actually be the problem or should i be looking for something else, are there any signs or sounds I should be looking for. I am hoping it is just the sensors as that is something I should be able to do home here and the parts are not that bad considering all the other things I have done so far.

Any advice on what to check or do will be greatly appreciated.

Big thanks.

If the sensors are perished, it would be worth changing them prior to a whole lot of pain.
Just remember to disconnect the battery or remove the fusible link and relay in the under bonnet fuse box, failure to cut the power may result in you having to have the system calibrated.

Make siure to diaconnect the battery when you change them. Should not need to be reset, But If you need to reset them a nanocom is needed.

Cheers

HI guys that was quick :D many thanks.

Ok so as long as I disconnect the battery I should be ok, Ill have a good read up on the link you posted thanks. if the bags are not leaking out of your experience would you suspect its the sensors ? I am praying its nothing else at the moment.

How did the garage check the air bag?
They do suffer from chaffing.
You need to get in it off road mode (as high as it will go) and a good spray round the old bag:cool: with soapy water.
Sensors can be replaced in a few minutes. I always carry spares in the vehicle along with a 10mm & 13mm socket.
I've had 2 fail over the years and one side of the vehicle raises to full offroad height.
Dog was in the passenger seat and ended up looking down his nose at me as the passenger side had raised.
Its not a nice feeling

altho the side that is higher seems to be the right hight, its not going up to the highest setting by its self only when I ask it to, so I am guessing the side that is lower is not getting enough air to level out. hope that makes some sense

As biggee says, you are better off changing them. They are very cheap, if you want you can swap them from one side to the other. But then you may as well fit new ones.
Height iirc should be 473mm +- 15mm crr line of wheel to wheelarch .

Cheers

You are welcome, (do not forget Biggee, LOL ) If you need to recalibrate them then find someone local who has a nanocom, very easy to do.

Cheers
