Hi guys, i'm doing a university project and need your help. I am designing a trailer for off-roading vehicles and need to know the following:

- Why do you take a trailer?
- What do you require in a trailer?
- Problems/restrictions with current trailer
- Anything that would improve your current trailer?
- Price range?

Any response would be a great help and appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Why do you take a trailer? - I don't have one
- What do you require in a trailer? - nothing, that's why I don't have one
- Problems/restrictions with current trailer - it doesn't exist
- Anything that would improve your current trailer? - yes, being an actual trailer would be great
- Price range? same as I paid for this one

You're welcome

Just out of interest, why did you choose to post yur thread in Off Roading section? Most towing takes place on the road, off road towing is a completely different, and quite specialized skill. I have seen little evidence of demand for off road trailers, and would think they are not well suited to the task. Those that do want them usually have a Sankey, or suchlike.

I take a trailer because my cattle would make a hell of a mess of the back of my motor :D And for many other reasons. In fact I have towed them all over Britain, probably since long before you were born.

If you post your thread in Anything Goes, I will tell you about it, but only after the guys and gals have had a chance to play with you for a bit!:D

1. to carry a vehicle to avoid having to tax it and MOT it. Also if it brakes something major, I don't need to worry about getting it towed back.
2. Stability - the trailer I just replaced was unstable with a Discovery V8 on it. Needs to be strong, handle nicely. A winch is also very handy if you lose power in the vehicle. Another nice thing to have is a built in security feature.
3. Restrictions I got with the old trailer - just about wide enough - unstable for such weight. New trailer doesn't seem to have any restrictions other than the winch that was given with it is not powerful enough for a Discovery.
4. A bigger winch.
5. Trailer's are expensive.....

what uni are you at?
