It's not like they have excess turbo pressure they need to dump .. in fact I'd prefer more NOT dumped .. ;)

I have been bought one as a present... It has a solenoid that needs to be connected to the throttle position sensor. There is my first issue. I cant find one.
I have a 90 fitted with a disco 300tdi, egr removed. Anyone help?
its on top of injection pump on the throttle mechanism

waste gate does that in that it limits max boost ,dump valve opens when throttle is shut so reducing back pressure on turbo and damage in extreme cases and allows turbo to spool back up quicker ,not something a 300 tdi will suffer from but important in high performance petrol

Next thing there will be a group buy for these....

it is so sad that there are so many members who are so high and mighty that anything different from their perfect way of thinking becomes a point of ridicule.
this was my first foray into the forum world after 20 years of working on land rovers. it will be my last.
it is a shame that the promoted "family" of land rover owners appears not to be the case at all. the "landy wave" apparently means nothing to any of the people on here who cannot get over themselves for long enough to have a serious conversation. only one person seemed to be open enough to assist.
thanks jamesmartin for being helpful.

What has James said that is different?
He has just said that the 300TDI won't benefit - only high performance petrol engines will. Same meaning, different words.... It's a waste of time with no benefit, hence no one on here has done it hence no one on here can tell you what to do.

If yu succeed then write up how you have done it for the next boy racer that asks the same dumb question.

Petrol engines use them. As when the throttle butterfly closes the turbo still spins the air can't go anywhere so the turbo slows or stalls due to pressure build up in the pipe work. The dump valve opens to relieve this pressure which reduces turbo lag on gear changes! That's all they do. On a diesel it doesn't have a butterfly so the pressure doesn't build up to anywhere near the same degree do you don't have the same issue. They're controlled electronically cos there's no pressure differential between the manifold and pipe work to open it. Yes you can fit one. Yes it'll go chuff. There'll be no performance benefit. It will get on your tits after the novelty wears off;) but I suppose you could put a switch in it to turn it on and off when you want a giggle! Up to you! Your car! I'd fit one if a customer wanted one. I've had them in the past on Lancias and Subarus.
If you want to be different why not:) if you're near me I'll point you in the right direction!

seriously buddy.anyone who wants to fit such a thing to an offroad/4x4 biased vehicle really does have to be stoopid

buy a corsa and stick all the exhausts/dump valves and whatever pointless stick on bits you want to.
but on a 2.5 ton 4x4 i mean really:fighting:

oh and close the door on your way out

I'll live with that, bye. ;)

If and when yu come back, I suggest you read the first 35 posts in this thread and see what the response was last time a "stupid" (not my comment) was asked about a dump valve.
